Hello,
I applied for ED. 2020 SAT, 3.8 GPA. I got deferred and I have been crying since. I don't know why I got deferred. After all, GT was my top choice. I thought I had it in me. I feel so humiliated. What should I do? I can't cheer up and move on in life and its as if life is going in a downward spiral. I feel stupid, y'know? espescially since everyone elese I know got accepted

With stats like those, you should have no problem being accepted to an excellent university. Keep your chin up, and do some research on schools you might want to apply to RD.

Getting in is getting in, whether it’s RD or ED (or off the wait list or as a transfer for that matter). No one (in college or after) will ever need to know when you got in, just that you in. SAT scores, high school grades, getting in early, etc. are completely meaningless on the first day of class.

If the issue is that you equate your GPA and college admission with your self-worth, don’t do that. That’s just going to set you up for disappointment and dissatisfaction as you continually chase the Joneses.

If the issue is that you’re embarrassed, then don’t tell your friends. Where you apply and where you get in is a personal matter, so keep it that way. Just keep quiet about it and tell them what school you accept at the end of the journey.

Oh goodness, those are great stats for Tech. I got accepted with a 31 and a 3.9, so I’m sure you’ll get in regular decision.

I hope so: I have a feeling I’ll get rejected again!

Stay in touch with admissions, visit once or twice, and retake SAT/ACT. Stay active, and share successes with Adm. Office.

You should try to focus on making the other parts of your application better such as the ECs and the Essays! Try to build your application up and send the GT admissions what you have done to make yourself a better candidate! GOOD LUCK! I am sure you will do GREAT!

I think you’ll get in during regular admission, but for obvious reasons, don’t plan everything around that.

I applied a couple years back, and I was also deferred during early registration. I had 4.0 uwted, 4.7 wted GPA, 2070 SAT (1400 Math/Reading), and 32 ACT, along with ecs and stuff. I believe Gatech is one of the few universities that actually care about your essay because I just bsed it and turned in crap, which may have been why I was deferred. I did end up getting in during regular, so I would say don’t worry about it too much, and look at other colleges you would like to go to just in case.
