Visited the college in August.

Catch: I heard from another post on here that Umich deferred many people b/c they didn't have enough time to fully review their application. I turned in my application and everything else on NOV 1, the deadline. Do you think this may have led to my deferral?

after reading many other sites, posters and publications seem to think that about 10% of those deferred ultimately gain acceptance. I’m hopeful the percentage could be a bit higher at UM, but so far nobody at the University or any moderator has offered any clarification. Let’s just say it’s probably a pretty slim chance, but if you are waiting until April anyway, you have nothing to lose. Some applicants are indeed choosing to fill out a few more applications for RD, including another “safety”, as Admissions decisions have been highly variable and unpredictable this year (i.e.,other than a local CC you almost have to stop using the classification safety). It has to come through in your essays that the college you are applying to is your likely first choice no matter how strong one’s application may be.
