Hey. well first off, Im really disappointed that I got deferred. I was really relying on Princeton ED.. i guess i shouldnt have expected much. I was thinking for a minute and was wondering why i got rejected. Aside from being ASIAN, i was thinking maybe it was my SATS? So i was wondering what u guys thought. Should i spend the time studying for Jan SAT? My reading was a 690, Math was an 800, and Writing was a 720 (1490/2210). Thanks a lot. Oh and btw, this question applies to the other usual "reach" schools too, and other schools like jhu, bc, carnegie, williams, cornell, etc. Thanks.......

To be honest, I dont think your SATs need improvement. Theyre very good already. Try looking at other parts of your application that might need improvement.

If you're bored and have nothing else to do January 28 (?) for 5 hours, take it again and see if you can stick a 7 (or 8!) in front of that reading score. You don't need to, but it won't hurt (they like 700s, but 690's pretty close)

Yeah if you have some free time, go ahead and take it again, but only if you want.

Your SAT score is fine anyway (above 2200)

And they most likely didn't defer you simply because they thought your SAT score was "low."

personally i said that if i got over a 2150 id never touch an sat booklet again. well i lied. i too was deffered and i will betaking it in january. I see all of these practically perfect scores paired with acceptances so i guess thats what im aiming for. well hopefully ill beat my current benchmark 2270 (720 760 790) i mean kinda a perfectionist because i know i can get an 800 in math and a 750 in cr well i dont think it could hurt to take them again...who needs 5 hours on a saturday anyway?

icsmatt, your scores are fine. Most admissions officers will tell you that anything with a 7 in front of it is what they look for. However, if you want to retake, it's your call. It might help a little, who knows?

ok well mabye this will make everyone feel wonderful--here are my horrible SAT scores: 620 CR 540 M 730 W. However, i got a 33 on the ACT and a perfect 36 on the ACT english. my guidance counselor said that there was no need to take the SAT again, but I dont know...because I honestly WAS deferred (I know its probably hard to believe with my awful scores that i wasnt outright rejected). but anyways, should i retake, even though i have a strong ACT (it puts me in the 99th percentile)???

thanks for the replies guys. i still don't know what i should do.... i mean im confident my other things really help me, so im not relying on sat too much. will my sat 2 scores compensate maybe? Chem: 750, Math IIC: 770, Math IC: 740, Biology: 710. Honestly, I really don't want to go thru the sat again. i dunno.......

i know this is racist, but i heard that for an asian, you have to be at least 20-40 points higher than the avg to even be considered. this really ****ed me off, bc im chinese hello. my previous sat score was 760M 760CR and 700W. I was told that was a little too low/risky, so i bumped it up to a 770M 800CR and 750W. a great study method is to take two sat tests in a row. i did that like three times (omfg killer/i have no life lol) and then took it and it worked!! also, i have maj add so i cant concentrate... thats why i didnt do as well before. your sat2 scores are also a little eh- perhaps thats why you were deferred? =\ ahhh i hate passing judgement on others/being harsh, so ill shut up now. best of luck!! you're great no matter what :)

wooow hippo...you have add and you still managed to do two SAT tests in a row??

I don't THINK I have add...but I can't even do ONE test completely...I only did like 2 full practice tests, and when I did, I finished the whole thing in like 2 hours =/ I didn't bother to check anything, or take it under real "test conditions" ...I mostly studied by doing single sections at a time =/

Should I retake these? 740 (v) 710 (m) 760 (w) I thought they were well within P-ton's range, but apparently not...

up your math score if you can. but if you look at this years stats for the sat scores for those accepted ed, theyre not that high. so i have no idea. lol

omg so maybe i SHOULD retake? it's so hard to decide!

i dont think that SAT 1s are really a big deal...at least this year...at Princeton
I had a 2400 and i still got deferred

KaitenKenbu, look at MY scores...do you really think you need to take it again?? does anyone think that I should take them again (see above scores) even though i have the 33 ACT?

But when do they start reviewing for RD?
Will Jan 27 scores even be on time?

January 9....

So if they start Jan 9, isn't there a good chance they can finish reviewing you before you scores get sent in?

hmmm....I don't know...I'll call them later in the break and figure out the exact process they use and all

Yeah because I assume that scores would be released end of February, right?
It takes about a month, I think.
I think I'd like to take the SAT again, since it's in the second semester and I won't be as busy.
I just don't want to do it uselessly.
