Got denied by UC Riverside...

I am currently a senior in high school in California and got denied by UCR. I’m not saying that UCR is bad university but I heard that it is one of the lowest ranked UC schools… I have a 4.04(weighted) and 3.96(unweighted) GPA and got 1330 on sat. I took few sat subject tests(math:760, korean:800) and volunteers in health care center(240 hours). Do you guys think that I will also receive rejections from other UCs too? I mean I’m really depressed of myself right now…:frowning:

Oh really? Most of my friends got an acceptance letter so I thought I was denied…

So really you have no decision yet?

No… my friend got them yesterday

Even my decision is pending (1160 SAT), but your scores are seriously awesome, you almost have a sure-shot.

@UCIvyL: Did your UCR portal state you were denied or you just assumed you are denied since you have not received an acceptance yet? UCR’s are rolling so not all decisions come out at the same time.

Oh is that so? Thank you so much

Thank you

I got waitlisted in high school with a 3.5 and ultimately got in (political science). You will most likely be fine.

don’t worry…in the big ucr thread someone had mentioned they had called admissions and they said it is all random. some of my friends got in too and i haven’t. you will be fine

Today is March 19 and my son said that his still says under review.

Same with my son. We figured he has a decent shot at UC Riverside. We were pleasantly surprised that he was admitted to UC Santa Cruz. It was possible, but a bit of a reach, we thought.

GPA: 3.42
SAT: 1310
2 AP courses - English and Calculus
Music: All So Cal Honor Orchestra - 3 years (2 on violin 1 on viola)

Intended Major: Mechanical Engineering

I think he fits UCR profile. But not having heard by now seems like it’s maybe not going to happen.

Is anyone still receiving acceptances from UCR?

We are still waiting on UCR. They said they would have all out by the end of March when I asked them about their Highlanders day. So i guess we need to sit tight. Seems as though only the high stats engineering students have been admitted from what I keep reading. My son is 3.86, SAT 1230 1 AP done, 2 AP in progress, duel enrolled with CC, Eagle Scout, lots of community service. Major Mechanical Engineering also. All the research I had done made me feel like UCR was a very likely chance but it is discouraging when we see people in other majors with lower stats getting in. Guessing they havent made up their mind on the engineers yet? That is what I keep telling myself. Heck we are still waiting on CPP also and now UCI. As of early Monday we had 4 schools but at least SDSU came out with decisions for us on Monday which he got in. Good luck all that are still waiting. Nothing has changed on his portal today still the same tabs. He only had that issue over the weekend where his tabs changed.

We’re still waiting on UCR and CPP as well. I had been led to believe that CPP was simple SAT, GPA and course load formula. Thought that my kid easily fit the profile. But perhaps for engineering, it’s not that simple. He had thin ECs as far as engineering goes. (e.g. he tells me at the end of his junior year that he wants to major in Engineering. Whaaattt???) Congrats on SDSU. I hear it’s the new hot Cal State school. Congratulations! And now we continue to wait…
