So I had pretty good grades in HS. 3.8 GPA(With tons of A:P classes) 1500 SAT, and I was denied? Unbelievable and I was in sports all 4 years so you are gonna tell me that, people with 2.8’s got accepted and I didn’t. Not even wait listed, flat out rejection. I feel like punching every person that is working in admissions right now, I cannot believe that I didn’t get accepted, I was a shoe in! Especially with all the Ap classes I took, so basically I wasted my time? I took AP classes and sports all four years neglecting my social life for the purpose of hey, "I may not have a girlfriend, but I can have fin once I have been accepted to a good school. Wow I feel like punching everyone right now. My parents are shocked. I’m *ed! What a waste of time. and so many people applied that are not even going there. I refuse to got o a state school, this denial is going to ruin the rest of my life! What pricks to no accept someone who met above your requirements un f***ing believable ugh!!!
And you seem like such a lovely person, too. How dare they not see how entitled you were! Your life sounds terribly difficult.
What am i supposed to do? Community college? Even though I worked my ass off?
i get you’re ****ed off…trust me i would be…i relate to the whole neglecting your social life too…but admission to colleges is so unpredictable nowadays…have you gotten admitted anywhere else?
1500 SAT? What is their average SAT requirement. I dont think its 1500. You can get all the A’s and AP classes and all that. But I think your SAT is way too low
maybe he means 1500 only cr+math
Y’all are not taking this seriously are you?
What is UCR? Riverside? But it is a state school.
First, AP courses are a waste–everyone going to college takes them so the value of them are watered down. The ACT score is fair and sports, unless you are a all-California/McDonalds all American or on the Olympic trak it means nothing. You had a pretty avg. application like most applicants–my got lead on by a few coaches and at the end of the day none of them had the juice financially/academically or program wise to do what they talked about…and at the end of the day the schools that we didn’t consider as academic reaches turned out to be the very schools that came through on every count…
@wastedhsyears LOL that was funny to read. I would appeal if i were you or call them and ask them why they denied a great person such as yourself. Didnt you apply to better schools than UCR with a 3.8? I guess if you go to CCC, you can join the scholars programs
Did you apply to any other UC for backup? You should of apply to more than one just in case you get rejected… (in this case, you did, sorry)
And as far as I know, UCR has a very high rate of acceptance so I do not understand why you would get rejected with such good grades. Try appealing ?
if this is serious, appeal as an athlete and you might get in. that SAT score (I’m guessing you mean 1500/2400) is pretty dang low, but the GPA looks solid.
if not, haha, ■■■■■.
schools sometimes reject you if they know you are too good for them and dont think you will be attending that school. that is an effort by admissions to try to lower their acceptance rate so that they will look better on paper. It also clears up admissions and estimating how many of the accepted people will go so that the class will not be underbooked/overbooked…
i myself was rejected from usc, even though i had a 2350 sat, 3.9ish gpa, and research awards/olympiad awards…so yea…
the only safeguard against that is to apply to as many schools as possible…and hope for the best
Trust me the 2.8’s are not attending UCR. No one gives a rip about your sports or that you had no social life. Plenty of kids have a social life with higher GPAs than you. The UC admissions is a numbers game. High test scores first. Grades in rigorous classes second and where you fall in relation to the other kids with GPAs and test scores better than yours third Economics my dear. UCs can only take so many students so they have the enviable position of taking the best and not just those who have done their time and completed their A-Gs.
omg i feel so sorry for you! uhm, most probably your personal statement was not good enough, i only took ONE ap course in my whole life in high school, i took ap lit my senior yr in high school, took the exam but got a 2 & i only played a sport for ONE yr, had like a lower sat score or around yours, had 3.0 high school g.p.a, but a very good personal statement i believe because i did it just the night before the deadline!! & it wasn’t even 1,000 words! it was the minimum (like 750 words i think), but guess what? i did my personal statement from my heart, & i guess that translated i am now about to become a sophomore this upcoming fall
I’m guessing you must be missing a requirement. If not, that is one for the books! UCGPA first, along WITH the retirements.
But I don’t think that means you wasted your effort.
