Might even be 68 if my calculations are off. If we ignore the first term of my freshman year in high school, my GPA might as well be below 65

Yet, somehow I got accepted to Baruch yesterday. I'm floored, and absolutely stunned. That was a throw away application just taking a chance, and I got in!

My SAT is 1650, but thats just below average of what most students in there get. In NYC we have regents, and half of them are good, some are so so. Only one test I got above 90, some in 80s, failed the french

But I'm more surprised that with such a horrific GPA and transcript, filled with loads and loads of poorous and horrendous grades I somehow got into the school. I dont have a criminal record or any record of suspension or anything like that, but my grades suggest that I'm an awful student. Even worse, I've cut maybe 200 combined days of attending high school these last couple of years.

Yet, they accepted me. All because I guess I wrote a good essay (all about how an athlete inspires me) and had a good SAT score. I have no track record of extra cirricular activities, infact, I never worked a nano second of community service in my life. I havent even graduated high school yet

Let this serve as a message: It seems like GPA really is kind of irrelevant in colleges minds, or at least for NYC. Not to insult those who truly work hard obviously, but for other students its rather easy getting a high grade as long as you attend school + do all of your HW. Those grades kinda make up for any average or poor test scores.

Just wanted to share my bizzare, if not somewhat inspiring stories to all. Peace
