Got into CP! Engineering Question

I got into College Park for the Class of 2018. However, I did not get into the Engineering school.

After doing some research, I have figured out that I can transfer into Clark after 1 or 2 semesters.

My questions is what classes do all students need take (I think they call it GenED) that all students take the first year and will I be missing out on any classes that kids got into engineering direct would take?

I heard that freshmen don't really get to take any major based classes. So then, if I transfer to Clark, I will be in the same boat as direct admits in terms of classes taken?

You can probably register for the same courses you would have taken if you’d been directly admitted to Clark. Makes no difference. Just get a 3.0 and you’re in and right on schedule.

First off, do you know what discipline of engineering you are interested in? If so, go here <a href=“Four-Year Plans | A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland”>http://www.eng.umd.edu/advising/four-year-plan</a> and click on the Gen Ed - Four Year Academic Plan: 2013-2014 - all the disciplines will pop up with pdfs to open with sample four-year plans. On the first page, you will see what classes are recommended to take each semester. You can then go to the second page of the document for the description of the classes. If you look at the gateway classes required for internal transfer here <a href=“Transfer to Maryland Engineering | A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland”>http://www.eng.umd.edu/advising/transfer</a> you will see that you can still be on track to graduate in the same time frame as students with “direct” admission as freshman as long as you get the grades you need (3.0 gpa).
The only freshman class restricted to engineering students is the ENES100 but they now offer ENES100A for students not officially in engineering yet so that you are still able to keep on schedule without “falling behind.”
