Got my ACT score back

I got a 30 composite on the ACT, which to be honest I am disappointed in because I felt very confident with most of my answers.

Score Breakdown:
English 28
Reading 27
Science 29
Math 36

My math is obviously not the problem but if I can just improve my reading and English I can get a much higher score.
I plan to take the SAT in the future because I much prefer it... so I won't have to worry about science, but how can I improve my reading and writing?

It is particularly frustrating because, especially on my English, I felt that I answered most of the questions correct. For those of you who were able to improve their reading and writing scores, how did you do it? what approach did you take to prepare? any additional advice?

Thanks!

I got my reading score up 10 points because I just simply poured myself into the passages like no matter how boring it was I focused on each and every word so when I got to the questions I had the answers stored in my mind and it took me seconds to find which one was right, just really try to focus and not zone out. Pretend its the most interesting thing in the world and it will end up being so. Some people skim the passages and spend more time on questions but how are you supposed to know the answers to a passage you barely read? Try doing different practice ones on different topics so you’re prepared to answers questions and focus on anything that comes your way

An additional question… Does it look bad for the test to be very lopsided as in my case? Do colleges prefer to see well rounded? I am going into engineering so math is highly important but will colleges look negatively on that or will they be impressed with the 36 on math?

From what I’ve heard most prefer someone who is well rounded in all subjects, but if you apply to a school as an engineering student they will definitely be impressed with that 36 but if you were to apply as undecided or something they might just see the composite and thats it so it just depends on where but I’m sure any place you apply to in engineering will love to see that 36!

Having that 36 in math would be beneficial for engineering programs.
