Got My Loa

engineer a "spinner" while blindfolded CADET!

NIce job!!! This is so exciting 2010ers and hopefuls (my fingers are still crossed).

I know I'm a little behind but my file was listed as complete FINALLY today. I swear it took them 6 weeks to put in my transcript. I'm my counselor's new best friend. SO... any idea how long it takes once files are complete?? When do they look at them??

CONGRATUALTIONS AGAIN. I hope hope hope hope I see you on Iday.

(my chair doesn't spin either. and the screaming woke up my sister. but its the thought that counts :)

CONGRATS! i am SO thrilled for you! i'm holding my breath for one....i got one from USNA about a month ago, 10.23.05, def a good day, but AFA is my first choice now :)

CONGRATS! i hope that puts a little less pressure on your shoulders :)

How much do yall think only being NavQual instead of PilotQual hurt me overall? My stats are SAT:1440, 1 letter, team captain, couple of leadership positions, a few other EC's like clubs and stuff. How much does the NQ set me back?

It will set you back slightly, but it shouldn't be the deciding factor in any case. You look like a very strong candidate to me, so it's probably only going to factor in extremely slightly. Good Luck.

Congrats to all of you and remember to keep safe and keep your celebrating sane. I'm sure you're all going to be great assets to the Academy. And USNA_aviationgirl, I hope you get your choice at the Air Force Academy, but I'm sure the Naval Academy would be a great place for you also. It's nice to have options, isn't it?

Nothemomma and Benjo6, could you please post when you receive the actual LOA letter?

Thanks!

I was figuring they would come today (since they were "in the mail" a few days ago) and while not expecting one, slightly depressed when i didnt get anything in the mail.

Actually i use "anything" lightly...since i did get an interview with my MOC on Dec 10th.

I guess they still havent arived yet.

Best of luck and again, congradulations!

Hey havent gotten my copy of my LOA yet, but I read that the Air Force Academy purposely sends them to the MOC's first (by about 3 days) that way there can be the "phone call." Although I was bursting with excitement my congressman's secratarey actually read the letter to me so its legit. I will let the forum know when i get my copy-- should be either Friday or this weekend.

I GOT MY LOA!!!!!! I just got off the phone with the XC coach, and he said my file went before the board, and they gave me an LOA!!! I'm soooo happy right now. My representatives will know this by know, I'm assuming. I still have to have an interview and everything, but nominating me won't go against their slots, right?

Congrats Benjo6 and PatriotCPM on your LOA's. I hope I can join you guys too :)

Much congrads man, i know you were trying so much and you deserve it - both the appointment and releif! Take sometime to yourself and enjoy it!

Thanks man. I can't even begin to tell you how good it feels, not to mention no more waiting. This was totally unexpected, because the coach told me a week ago that I wouldn't hear anything until wround New Years, so when I picked up the phone and I heard his voice, I was thinking "what's going on"? But then I heard the most glorious words in the world: "Congratulations, I've got some good news" I had to restrain myself from screaming into the phone (I thought I kept myself very well composed, actually). I still have to get the nomination and send my first semester grades and stuff, but the LOA was a MAJOR hurdle, because my grades for the first semester are going to be fine, and as I understand it, if I was competative in the first place, a nomination is not hard to get at all with an LOA. I'm walking on air right now though!

Anyways, just to let you all know, my status on the webpage hasn't changed at all (I check it everyday, and it hadn't changed today).

Good luck to all of you as well, I hope to see every single one of you in June! I've appreciated this place so much to just come and talk to people that had a common goal.

ALRIGHT PATRIOT THAT A BOY--- looks like we're going man. Your right your congressman won't give up any of his princple. nominations... I have only heard of one person getting an LOA and not a nomination (he went into the interviews very cocky and didn't get it!) BTW i'm from New Jersey... I dont know where Delmar is but your close so we should exchange info. once the process becomes finalized... congrats man (btw it won't wear off)

Congrats guys! Making me nervous, but knowing yall are getting them is heartwarming!

Benjo, when did you finish your file?

Thanks, Benjo Hornetguy (I'm sure you'll get in soon enough!). Delmar is basically a suburb of Albany, so I'm like 2.5 hours from the NY/NJ border (not far at all, considering the scope of people who go to the academy). I'll gladly exchange info, you can contact me at my screenname or e-mail address (in my public profile). I literally still can't believe it!

Hornet-- I had my file 100% complete by the middle of October. Fortunately I had all my DODMERB stuff complete around that time (potential pilot qualified) and from then on I literally expected to wait until March to hear... But 99% of the class of 2010 will not hear until Januar--March so don't fret... Just let us know when you get it! EMPHASIS ON WHEN

Once these LOAs and then nominations and then appointments start to come in, one of you should start a new thread for the class of 2010. Perhaps some of you that live near each other can even meet prior to I-day. Have a feeling that that might make adjusting to the academy a little easier. By the way, my son is one of you!

That's about when my stuff was complete. Argh, you're prob more competative, but I will keep my fingers crossed.

Have you guys gotten the letters in the mail yet, or is it still by word of mouth only so far?

Word of mouth as far as I know, but I'm away at school so it could've come without me knowing. I'm 99% sure it hasn't arrived at my house yet because I was told they first reviewed my file and gave me the LOA on Wednesday. Don't lose hope, even if you don't get an LOA that doesn't mean you won't get in!
