I feel the same way falcon. The sad part is, I imagine it a lot, but after hearing about all the people receiving LOA's, its a bit depressing just cause I want it now, I have been waiting 10 loooong years for it.

Congrats Patriot, hope more will follow soon.

You're not alone.....

I have probably wasted a ton of their bandwidth from checking my status so often :p

Heck, since I know some html, I even created a script that allows me to simply click on an icon in my favorites, and it automatically logs in for me and brings the application status page up...I was getting so tired of entering my SS# and date-of-birth a billion times per day...my fingers have thanked me :)

Hang in there Andy -- I know it's hard to wait. We will be rooting for you -- just consider us your "balcony". By the way, you had asked if Benjo6 was on Military.com. That was actually me (I had logged in with his name because he happens to be my son). Anyway, I now have my own "handle" so that won't happen again. Hey, anyone who can use HTML to avoid entering SS numbers deserves to be in the academy as far as I'm concerned!!

Same here. I was in 7th grade when i wanted it so now it has been 6 years. I want this so badly because it has been the driving force for EVERYTHING ive been doing in my life.

I have gotten so used to typing my SSN/DOB at both the DoDMERB and academyadmissions site. A slightly humorous now, but not then, story was i was at my college in a computer lab. I was checking my DoDMERB status and each time it kept saying "Pending waiver submission/review" and it had been three months. So one day i was having a REALLY bad day and still nothing changed that i pounded my fist on the desk loud enough for seveal people to look.... I decided to go to another computer lab but eventually went to the gym to run my angers off.

Same here, I do everything to improve my strengths and qualifications.

Hi, I'm new here to college confidential, but I've been reading the posts here for a couple of days, and I love it. I too applied to the Air Force Academy, and I too am a fanatic, hahaha. I thought I was just about the wierdist kid in the world to continually check an application status page that I know won't change....but I'm glad I'm amongst others who do it to!

Patriot CPM.....are you also applying for a nomination from McNulty? I noticed your location was Delmar, and the deadline you mentioned was the same as McNulty....Delmar is in the 21st district of New York, right? Congragulations on your LOA....I'm driving myself crazy here just waiting for any little morsel of news at all....Oh, I'm from Cobleskill New York, in Schoharie County, about 45 mintues away from Albany....nice to see another Academy hopeful from this area!

Also, I don't want to sound like a newbie here....which I probably will, despite my best efforts, but what will the Academy think of a sub-par math grade? The Academy is my dream, and I've pretty much killed myself over it the past few years, but I haven't always done the hottest in math. I mean, my extracurriculars are there....I fly, play sports (three of them, captain too), have gone to Boys State, the Summer Seminar, do traveling sports, etc. etc. etc., but my 75 math grade has dragged my GPA down to a 3.3....any thoughts on whether this will affect my chances? Once again, forgive me for one of those "so you all think I'll get in posts?", but I just wanted some feeback.....and I know this is one hell of a long post, didn't mean to write a novel either...

Regardless, I love this site, I've loved reading all that you have had to say about it, and I hope I can post some quality stuff myself with some people who love the Academy as much as I do!

Welcome West... I think if you do well in the Math SATs it might offset your lower-than-average grade in Math; I would also be sure that my Math teacher wrote a good recommendation saying things like... "has a good math mind..." I wouldn't be too discouraged by this, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses-- but I wouldn't take it lightly either-- It is mainly an engineering school and they want to see high math scores/grades, so If i were you I would work real hard this semester so the Academy could see some veritable improvement. I will note that my math scores were good but not outstanding and I did recieve and LOA last week... Good Luck, keep us posted.
Happy Thanksgiving Academy Hopefuls!

haha, thanks Benjo, I would win it....well, as to my SATs, my maths weren't wonderful, but they were there....I got a 590 on the math section, 690 on verbal....I'm banking on my ACT, which I got a 31 on, and my math in that was a 28 on the composite scale..

Luckily, I did just exactly as you said. I have a great bond with my math teacher and I did ask her to write me a recommendation. I don't attribute the grade to laziness....its just tough for me to comprehend. Luckily, she told me that she wrote a recommendation detailing all the early monrings and after-school time where I came in for help, so I hope the Academy will notice this.

Once again, thanks for the quick reply Benjo, its great to get some feedback. Happy thanksgiving to yourself and everyone else!

West-I am indeed applying to McNulty for a conrgressional nomination. I live in Delmar, and went to Bethlehem Central High School. Cobleskill, eh? Thats not very far at all-Who's your Liaison Officer? Anyways, I don't think that a low math grade will have too much of an Impact as long as everything else is up there. A comparatively higher score in SAT/ACT's can't hurt either. I think if you demonstrate your desire to attend, you'll be fine. Good luck with everything.

If you haven't gotten an LOA, don't get discouraged. I realize that's easier said than done, but if you don't get one (or haven't gotten one yet), it doesn't mean you won't get in. So stay motivated and keep a good attitude!
