Appointments have been revoked for (1) poor grades second semester of senior year or (2) some illegal or immoral action (getting arrested or something equally bad) or (3) any number of equally undesirable things. So I guess a person could say that you're never really safe until you actually inprocess...so as the cliche goes--keep making those right decisions!

I guess I worded my question wrong, what I meant to say was: Assuming medical clearance, about how common is it for the Appointment offer to be revoked?

I have heard that this is very similar to what civilian colleges do. Lower than a B average for a top school could be grounds to review your status. Or a D/F in any one class. I say this as a guideline from an admin officer I once spoke with. It is basically up to the school however, and I do not believe there is a hard and fast rule.

Everyone still hanging in there? Keep that head up!
PatriotCPM, in addition to what AFDAD said about grades, appointments can be jerked if a kid ends up in trouble by breaking the law. Don't know how often it has occured but I'd heard of it happening once when a kid ended up at some crazy under-age drinking party and was busted for drinking & driving. They snatched away that appointment and that kid's life was pretty much wrecked. None of you guys here have time for such stupid crap so no worries. Just go get those appointments and stay stealth & healthy till you report in. Can't wait to look ya'll up online on the AFA website this summer!!

yay! i got mine in the mail today! it takes about longer for anything to get to me or to USAFA, so yay! i'm in batch 1! :)

congrats to my fellow future classmates....CLASS OF 2010!

u better change your sn to USAFA__aviationgirl! lol I'll be seeing you in June.... congrats!

Congrats, usna_aviationgirl. Hopefully I'll see you in June as well (hopefully this nomination fiasco turns out just fine as well)

I haven't gotten my LOA yet in the mail (at least I don't think I did, but it's entirely possible, because I'm at college now. Well, I'll see tommorow, I'm going hom for thanksgiving then.)

Anyone on here from new jersey?

I received my appointment package in the mail today. Good luck to everybody still waiting, and congratulations to those who have received LOA's.

fiterace87 - That's outstanding. Is it a lot of stuff? Just curious.

I think we're ALL curious.

I'm still waiting...

congrats fiterace!

Thanks y'all. Well, the appointment package really isn't that big, but it comtains some readings about "The Academy Experience," a letter signed by the director of admissions, and of course the accept/decline forms. I think that once you accept the offer of appointment the heavy-duty stuff comes in. But I'm sure all of you will get to see for yourselves.

SO COOL!

congratulations again... and again.

Accept/Decline - man, I wish my DS had his mind made up. He's waiting for AFROTC as well as Stanford and a couple of other civvy colleges before he decides. It may take the overnight visit in April to tip the balance.

Man I have gone through this scenario a million times in my head. I go to the mailbox and see a big envelope sticking out, I read the letter that says I have been offered an appointment/LOA and then I either A: scream and run through the house, of B: fall down after passing out. I have thought that I would immidiately send it back saying yes I'm coming but I won't know how I feel until I have it in hand. I promised myself I would not make a decision for three days so I can just think about it and the future, although I know it will be yes because I have wanted this and only this for several years. I really don't care when it comes, just as long as it comes.

I got my LOA yesterday, what a beautiful piece of paper. anyways, congrats on your appointment, fiterace87. Hopefully I'll see you in June!
