I was a bit shocked despite a priority number of 107 to be placed in a triple for the summer session. (Cawthon Hall)

Just a few questions:

Are the triple rooms significantly larger

How many people are to a bathroom

Is it still possible to change my fall hall preferences. I’ll choose a larger hall if possible (My priority number is 262 for fall)

The triples in Gilchrist/Cawthon/Reynolds are USUALLY large and have their own bath. So that is 3 to a bath instead of four. NOT ALWAYS BUT USUALLY.

I was amazed at the size of the triples we saw in the older but renovated dorms. It is only for 6 weeks, so don’t panic. If you had number 107 my guess is that it is a large triple with one bath–which makes it a triple with “private bath.”

Matt125,

I was in a triple in Cawthon my freshman year (was in the Music Living-Learning Community), and I was shocked too when I found out (though my priority # wasn’t as great as yours/anyone that I knew–mine was 6,229; I only got Cawthon because I was a music major and they held my spot in the Music LLC since I got in to FSU). My fears were put to rest, when I got to see the room during orientation, as there was more than enough room for me. I kept my bike in my room all year with no problems for space (same for my roommates).

While I’ll be tempted to agree with sunnyflorida about the bathroom issue, I had thought all of the triples would share one bathroom…or at least with a single (again, I shouldn’t expect any promises with a priority number that high). I was wrong, as we shared a bathroom with a double. But since your priority number is low, you might be lucky. Good luck.

Awesome, thanks for the information both of you. I appreciate it.

Last year my son was in a triple in Landis. They shared a bathroom with a double…so 5 guys to one bathroom. Luckily they were 20 feet away from a full bathroom (tub & shower) next to the kitchen which they used when needed. He said if was never really an issue unless they locked each other out. You can contact the dorm manager to get the measurements of your room ahead of time. Thinking back I want to say his room was 16’ x 16’. It also had two mini-fridges.

Funny, but all the girls we know that had a triple had a private bath, yet the guys had to share…

Where do you find out your room assignment??

i got my summer assignment by mail and via email. i’m going to be in gilchrist.

Just curious, does the triple contain bunk beds? If so, I’m thinking I’ll arrive first and claim the single. haha

In the renovated dorms (Gilchrist, Reynolds, etc) all beds can be bunked or not. Many of the beds are bunked during cleaning between terns. But you just separate them. If you are in a double or triple and want to bunk beds, there are these metal rods in the room that allow you to bunk two beds. If you find the beds bunked and you want singles, you just separate the beds. The height of the beds in the renovated dorms are also adjustable. Many students raise the mattress to allow for storage underneath.
