These stereotypes are nothing compared to what you'll deal with in college.

For example.. ***** is small or being a social 'tard.

These two erroeneous generalizations will cost many asian guys females in college. For example I frequently see white guys with asian girls but no asian guys with white girls.

Heh, this is getting interesting... If only YouTube is up, I could post a bunch of funny asian videos for your heart's desires.

Before, hideANDseek, I AM looking forward to that gateway to freedom. : )

Now anyways, I would suspect that the more open-minded and free-spirited girls would hook up with asian guys. No slut or whore would...you know what, nevermind. I'm gonna stop there...

So, my dear ihateCA, you would rather jump off the bridge than read a page of physics?

No, but you have to understand that for me, it's EXTREMELY EXCRUCIATING pain, worse than having someone slice my stomach open (w/o anesthesia).

The 2200 thing...I was trying to make a point that asian parents are vindictive and perfectionist and will get nothing but perfection out of their kids. And when they have nothing to squeeze out of their kids, they leave their kids out to die.(metaphorically of course). I think 2200 is quite high, and it's certainly high enough for my first choice (NYU Stern)

hideANDseek-it's rare for asians to be seen doing much OUTSIDE of teaching, medicine or engineering, let alone business, especially in the financial services like investment banking, which is where I will end up (maybe because it's an unstable field-but the experience is valuable and you make tons of money).

And if that wasn't true, I was sort of being facetious...again, not doing too good of a job.

I know at least a few Asians in ibanking and business... my girlfriend's sister is a very successful CPA, and my friend just took a job with PriceWaterhourseCooper.

That friend I had been talking about who I said epitomized Asian-ness... I do say that she differs from complete Asian-dom in a way. She is in LOVE with history. In love love love. She is TEH history geek. I have another friend (yes, Asian again. What do you expect. I go to a majority Asian school.) whose dream school is UPenn-Warton and that's the only private she applied to. And yes, she is going for economics major (aka business). Another Asian friend, one of our two valedictorians, is yes, trying to go to yale (and frankly, I think he deserves to, a bit), but he is trying for english major. Omg, wow, Asians who are not going into math or science! What miracles!

Uh, sorry Mr. ihateCA, but you're not so OMG, unique when you're OMG, an Asian applying to OMG, business school. You make it sound like it was never attempted before. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's a huge stereotype you just made too.

-_- hideANDseek, I agree. This is why I'd rather go for white guys. Hate the traditional asian boy mentality anyways.

YAY and the world is saved again, thanks to--

Just kidding.

Just trying to make the world a more liberal place. :D
I like it when people are willing to be changed and corrected tho. :D I give you kudo bars!

Hmm. Well, what about an Asian that wants an econ major, but NOT for business? What about an Asian that just loves macroecon theory and has no idea what practicality there might be in that?

im asian with your typical european mix/"american" parents (i was adopted) and i almost wish my parents pushed me harder because im only going to my safety school (pitt) and they seem to think thats amazing. all through my childhood i thought id be an ivy league student and when it got to my junior yr, i realized wow. i wish somebody would have pushed me harder. so yes, it sounds like your dad sucks sometimes but he must love you and think you are really special.

Man, I wouldn't feel bad at all. Sounds like you're doing pretty well for yourself. My grandfather and great uncle both went to Pitt and did fantastically well for themselves.

THIS WAS A GREAT THREAD. basically all parents regardless of race are so *ed up. I hope I dont do this to my kids. Sometimes I think what if one of us dies in a car crash and its over. So how did we * away our high school years cramming for AP's ??? Sat's for what??? there has got to be a better way to get into school and secure ones future. Very Scary.

yes, sorry, you are right, i sounded like i think pitt sucks, not true at all. im excited and i think it is an excellent school...but you know how it is when your friends are going to columbia and u penn... haha.
