What does everyone think of Govs.?????

I like them. Midsize, flies under the radar, intimate, homey. Dorms are smaller (approx 12 kids) and look like houses. Everyone gets a single unless they want a roommate. Great facilities (huge library, modern science and math center, expanded arts building, state of the art auditorium), nice people, made us feel at home.

My daughter got a big hug on revisit day. Very big on arts competitions. Tennis coach also coaches model congress and they do competitions at Harvard. Opportunities to travel abroad. Strong language support for incoming international students.

A student recently matriculated to MIT so I know the rigor is there if you need it.

My D ended up at Taft but my husband gave them a big thumbs up when he went for revisit day. My D cried about hurting their feelings when she turned them down because they stayed in touch with us during the application process and called to see if we had questions about the school. Her viewbook came personalized and they did a nice job with their admissions packet/folio.

They are underdogs - i.e. not often on people’s list, and ignored by those chasing a HADES dream. But Exeter faculty send their own children there (and vice versa) so I’d say it’s worth a look.

They get my vote. Love love LOVE Isaiah Suggs, Associate DOA at Governor’s.

There’s no way I can tell it like Exie, but I concur with everything stated above ^^. A close friend’s daughter graduated from GDA (when it still had “Dummer” in the school name) several years ago and she is now a successful veterinarian. The daughter loved the school for its size ,its strength in the sciences, and its warm and close knit community. She was also on the equestrian team. It was a great fit for her. The school is also located in a beautiful part of MA.

Governor’s is a great option. Their students seem happy when I went there to visit. The dorm monitor on our tour was excited that she had just been accepted to my alma mater - Boston University.

It all sounds great… but I like almost all of the opposite aspects. I love large schools, dorms that look like red-brick dorms etc. etc. =(

Does Governor’s offer rolling admissions?

I think so
