GPA Advice

I'm hoping somebody can help me understand how medical schools view GPA. Is it just science GPA and non-science GPA, or do the look directly at specific pre-med classes (bio, chem, orgo, physics, and calc) only to make a pre-med GPA? Is this something which differs by the school? If one has a "normal" science GPA (3.5-3.7) but a lower pre-med GPA (3.3-3.4) will medical schools look down on this?
