I am currently a 9th grader worrying about my GPA. I took Algebra 1 and Spanish 1 in 8th grade, and im not really sure they carried it over. It said I had a 3.5 GPA. I got a B+ in Algebra and an A in Spanish. Will this GPA these classes be on my transcript? Will colleges count this GPA? Thanks!
It depends on your school district.
My children’s district gave them credit for algebra and Spanish which was not calculated into their 9th grade stats. It was a completely different school. The district gave them a “pass” because the next level of classes provided the grade.
You need to ask your school district how they will use and report your MS grades. I don’t think they will place it on your transcript because it usually isn’t the same school.
Your classes will get more difficult in HS. (Especially the foreign language). Don’t be in a rush to get a perfect 4.0. You have time. Why worry about it now???
You’re right, thanks!
High school GPA includes only the classes you took from the start of ninth grade until senior year. Personally, I believe that a 3.5 is a great starting point and you have plenty of time to get it up. Great work!
FWIW - I took 2 high school courses in middle school and they do appear on my high school transcript. Same district for middle and high school.
Our school does include high school level classes taken in 8th on the transcript and in the GPA. You can ask for them to be taken off but then you would have to take them again.
Nope. @“Aunt Bea” is correct; it depends on the school/district.
FWIW, at my HS, the classes appeared on my transcript, but the grades did not.
