GPA and class rank

Hi everyone,

I am kind of worried right now about my high school gpa. I messed up my freshman year with a 3.7 UW gpa (one B and 2 A-). I am a sophomore and I am finishing the semester with straight As. I have a cumulative gpa UW of 3.8 so far (2 years). IF I get straight As junior year, my gpa will be around a 3.85 UW. Will this affect my chances into UVA (in state), NYU, and similar business schools???

Also, I am worried about my class rank because of my GPA. My school is in Northern Virginia (Loudoun county) and it is kind of competitive. We regularly send a lot of kids to UVA from my school. There are about 480 people in my grade, btw. Im just worried that my GPA will be too low to be in the top 10% by the end of junior year. Also, do schools use UW or W gpa for rank? Can I get into the 10% by the end of junior year? Is this reasonable??

As for more about me, I have really good test scores right now (1400 SAT, and I am a sophomore with lots of time to improve that), I started my own business that has a lot of community recognition, have won seed money from investors, am the social media manager of a local nonprofit, and I just have a passion for entrepreneurship.

Sorry, I feel like I am rambling, just a little worried! Thank you to anyone that can help meee

Stop. Breathe

A single B and a couple A’s- is not going to destroy your chances at college. And don’t worry about being in the top 10%. As long as, individually, you are a well-rounded student with decent grades, you’ll be fine. You have really good EC (your own business that’s friggin’ amazing) and great SAT scores. Don’t stress and enjoy your high school years

Thank you!

I say: Stop thinking can I get into NYU?
But: I will do my best in HS, and based on that, what colleges fit me best?
