what gpa and sat/act score combination would you consider a good match for UC Berkeley and UCLA?

In state: 4.1/2150

OOS: 4.3/2250

would a 4.5/2090 leave you in a reach spot?

Yes, it would be a reach. A realistic reach in state, not much chance oos.

a 4.5/2090 for in-state is NOT a reach. if you are great in other areas, such as activites and essays, you should be fine. really..who is to decide that a 4.1/2150 is "better" than a 4.5/2090??

4.5/2090 is definitely better than 4.1/2150; you have to work so much harder to get your gpa to 4.5

thanks for the input everyone. sorry to bug you guys again lol but would a 4.5/32(ACT) make the chances higher (than 4.5/2090)

GPA: 4.2
SAT I: 2100
SAT II: 3x(720)

flopsy, what about ACT

You guys are all totally wrong...... if a 4.2/2150 is a match than a 4.3/ 1950 would be just as much ( if not More) of a match! You gusy count SAT's so much more than grades. In reality, for the UC's, every .1 GPA is worth slightly more than 100 SAT points. Therefore if you have a 4.5 than....based purely on numbers, a 1750 would be just fine... Don't even tell me I'm wrong..cause i'm not!

Numbers and simple calculations are cute, bondsfan, but these schools don't just put your GPA and standardized test scores into a calculator and look at the composite number and totally disregard its components. They will definitely look at your GPA, definitely will look at your test scores. You are right, however, that a strong GPA is SIGNIFICANTLY better than strong test scores. A person with a 4.5 GPA and strong rank~ 3%~ has a strong chance of acceptance into non-impacted majors at LA and Berkeley regardless of how low SAT scores are.

hows els would they calculate points for your gpa and SAT's without puttin them in a calculator?

Average SAT math score: 600 - 730
Average SAT writing score: 580 - 700
Average ACT score: 24 - 31
GPA score: 4.24
