GPA Augmenting.

I've heard of people who go to local community colleges or take virtual courses online to jack up their GPA. Assuming one can do this while maintaining A's at school, how recommended is this?

To point out: Some high schools do not average in grades taken outside of the high school even if they do appear on one's transcript. I can take as many classes at CC or online as I want and my GPA won't change.

Your high school GPA wouldn't change, but CC's/online courses send transcripts to the colleges your apply to. Thus, HS GPA doesn't = "actual" GPA, at least not to adcoms.
In any case, I'm pretty sure my HS does average in grades from outside courses.

I don't think it happens very often, most of the time that happens if you're at a school that adds like .25 to your GPA every time you take a community college class... then people take a lot of community college classes that are easy to jack it up. At many high schools it will be weighted honors and wouldn't help you very much.

b-b-b-bump.
