gpa deflation

hey everyone,in my school we have this weird gpa system that deflates everyone's grades. it is a competive public school (one of the best in the state), also. will dartmouth take this into consideration, especially when comparing to students who go to noncompetitive schools with higher gpas.

As long as your rank is good and you have strong SATs, I wouldn't worry.

hmm, my school doesnt have rank (or weighted gpas), and my sats and sat iis are ok; my AP scores are pretty good though.
My grades are actually pretty good individually, just the gpa is misleading and it seems like i have lower grades.

Colleges will estimate your rank based on school profile and past experience with your school. If you're in the top 5% (or even ten at a tougher school and higher at a very elite school) the actual gpa doesn't matter. At a high school like mine that sends 30 plus% to ivies and the like, gpas can look pretty low and still be top of class.

The SAT score is important to show where you stand among a broader peer group. Again, if you're at least above last year's average, 1480 cr + math, don't worry. And they don't look at AP scores for admission.

really?

i thought they look at AP scores as well. why do they request it then?

i think they request it for class placement once you are actually accepted
