GPA for Transfer student

I am a 1st year UC Berkeley student interested in applying for transfer to UPenn, Brown, and Columbia. This semester, I didn't do as well as I should have and received a 3.73 GPA. I was on track to receive a 3.8-3.9 GPA but messed up on one of my finals, bringing my gpa down :(. I got a B+ in a not-so difficult math course :(. My high school gpa was around the same as my 1st semester college gpa. However, I have a very high SAT score (2350) and several leadership positions and pretty decent extracurriculars. Taking into account the information I gave you, including that UC Berkeley is known for difficult classes and that I've take many units, how much lower do you think my chances are with a gpa of 3.73 than a gpa of let's say 3.8 or 3.9? Please help me out. I've been very worried

I heard essays are the most important part when it comes to transfer. Do you think my GPA will hurt me

i think it will be mostly about your essays.

That’s what I think too. I am hoping for more responses though

Guys please help out
