GPA from first semester at GWU

I got a 3.14 for my first semester. Just wondering if anyone can tell me how this is. I took 16 credits, and I got a B in Single Variable Calc, B in Intro to archaeology (86.6, 1 point from a b+) B in world history 1500-present (86.2, .3 from b+) B+ in Spanish 2, and B+ in Justice and the Legal System. Just wondering if anyone could tell me how this is for my first semester, I was a bit disappointed with how I did, but I hope to bring it up a lot next semester if I can.

Your GPA reflects your grades. B is a 3.0 ; B+ is a 3.3 …so based on your GPA you are student who averages between a B and B+ … How good is a 3.14? Nobody can answer this except for yourself. If you came to college just wanting to pass and be slightly average or above average, than a 3.14 is good. If you planned on going to law school where good law schools, including GW’s, have an avg GPA for its acceptance applicants of a 3.75 or more, than a 3.14 is not good. Usually, freshmen year is the lowest GPA for most students. Just never drop below a 3.0, because that is awful.

I’m surpised your GPA/Grades are posted at this time - finals are not even completed? Are you “guestimating”?

CJ

CJ Madison, finals do not have to be completely done by all students for GPAs to be posted. My complete GPA has been up for a few days now

Thanks - I’ll let my “S” know to check. Where do you do this? Is it on GWEB or Blackboard?

GWEB is the only place that has your GPA

Well I honestly am looking to eventually get into law school, how will I have to do to get to a competitive level? I feel that I will do better next semester, but I don’t know if I can get to a 3.75…

either apply to less prestigious law schools, or do very well on you lsats

3.0:

For just getting a degree: Good

For getting into average, lowly ranked grad school programs: Good

For getting into top grad school or law school programs: Fair to Weak

For transferring: Fair
