So I graduate this May. My gpa fell to a 2.9. A lot of companies require at least 3.0's. Should I try applying to the companies that will let me right now? or should I wait after I graduate to do it as I expect to finish with a 3.1-3.2 in May. (I'm confident I will since I will work less hours, work killed my gpa these past few semesters).
I understand you have to wait a year until you can apply again if you didn't get in at some companies. A higher gpa will give me a better chance for getting hired and/or eligible again for a bunch of jobs. But applying in May seems late. So it might come down to...small and unknown company taking me after graduation or wait until gpa goes up to try to get into a big and known company but won't have job lined up in May. I aimed to start at a big company but right now this seems to be holding me back. What do you guys think?

There’s no timeline for hiring. Sure some companies have “new grad” opportunities, but if they are hiring, they are hiring. Just apply in May.

Tricky question… I think this depends on how badly you need to find a job right after graduation. Given how much you have been working, do you have a safety net if you DON’T have a job right away? A place to live, food, insurance, and a way to make student loan payments and any other debt if necessary?

If not, then you better start applying to the smaller companies now. If you think you can hold out for 6 months or so after graduation, then wait until May.

I don’t need a job right after May because I do have a safety net, I won’t be in the street lol. Do my chances really end in May, some companies have hiring seasons. Anybody have experience with this?
