GPA: my school doesn't provide one

Does a university calculate a GPA for you if the school doesn't provide one? Do they also estimate your rank if school also doesnt rank?

thanks! :)

This is a great question to ask the guidance office at your school. You can ask them exactly what they send to colleges. They should be able to show you their “high school report” which typically gives a brief overview of the school’s grading system, lack of ranking, amount of AP/IB/honors courses offered, SAT score range, etc. They should be able to explain to you how colleges use that information in combination with your transcript to evaluate you.

They should also be able to give you some guidance in figuring our a comparable GPA for your own usage, so you can see where you fall in a particular college’s rage when you are looking at possible colleges. I’m guessing you just get letter grades? There are many conversion scales on line, but the best thing to do is get this info from your guidance office.

@staceyneil‌ we get letter and number grades.

thanks! Ill talk to my GC

Does your school give you a numerical GPA on a 100-point scale, or do they not calculate a cumulative GPA at all? If you have a number, like 92.5% or whatever, you can easily convert that to the 4.0 scale colleges use.

they do not calculate GPA at all. We have percentages, but they are usually rounded off to a whole number

OK but if that percentage is cumulative, it’s basically your GPA and you can convert it to a 4.0 scale in order to have a ballpark idea of your GPA. Anyway- your guidance office can clear it up for you. Good luck :)
