No gpa! Help!

<p>Hello everyone!</p>

<p>I go to a private school which is based on the IGCSE/A-levels system and it has a weird way of making the students' transcripts, without calculating the GPA. My counselor has told me to send in the Common App without the GPA and even though she has tried to assure me that not sending in my GPA won't effect my chances of admission, I'm still not convinced. Besides, my school also doesn't rank students and therefore, the class-rank also goes unreported.</p>

<p>So can anybody tell me how important the highschool GPA is and how much it counts in your application process? And if it is really important, what should I do? Should I request the administration to calculate my GPA and report my classrank?</p>

<p>Is your counselor familiar with US college applications? If so then I would believe her. You can find out how important grades are for admissions by looking up the Common Data Set for your colleges. That being said, there will be enough information in the HS profile and your transcript for the colleges to evaluate you.</p>
