GPA?? (not a chances thread)

Why is it that I can never find an average GPA for Cornell?

And has anybody else? Do you know what the average GPA is?

I dont think they publish that information like other schools, ive tried to find that too

This would be interesting to know...but also, do they recalculate GPA? And if so, how?

they publish that data for heop candidates. However, I havent found the average gpa for the regular people.

<a href="http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/2005/05/grade_inflation_at_cornell/%5B/url%5D">http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/2005/05/grade_inflation_at_cornell/</a></p>

Arts and sciences requirements for the dean's list just went up again this year. At least cornell science has pretty rigorous averages that don't deviate from year to year. In addition, introductory physics for life science majors has gotten significantly harder to get an A in compared to the previous years.

in terms of average GPA for current CAS students, it's a 3.3ish. and it's not like some students are straight As, some are straight Bs, and some are straight Cs. It's more of a mix, with most students getting some As, Bs and a few Cs.

In terms of applicants' GPAs, they vary so greatly based on grade inflation/deflation at every school that it's kind of pointless to post it. I would guess that most applicants are 3.5+ and that almost all applicants are 3.0+. That's not to say there's a cut off, that's just how the numbers fall.
