GPA problem

Im going to be a senior and I really want to get into Ucla but my gpa is kind of bad. 3.75 UW and 4.33 W. Im considering taking ap calculus ab near the end of this summer but since I have to do it quickly to finish the course before school starts, I probably will hurt my ecs. Is it worth it, or should I keep my decent gpa and try to work on my ecs which are also really bad. Btw I got a 2390 on the SAT, and 800 on chem, math 2, and physics subject test.

btw I have gotten 6 Bs in sophomore and junior year, YIKES.

^ya at cty, I mean it would improve my gpa to a 4.36. I mean is that .3 worth killing my ecs.

I personally doubt that .3 is worth killing your ec’s for- maybe if it was the difference between a 3.97 and a 4.0, but since you’ve clearly passed that threshold I think you should focus on your ec’s, maybe getting in some extra community service, etc. BTW those are killer test scores, good luck with everything!

To complete the course it would take about 8 hours a day, and I have to do another class which I have already completed halfway. So there would be no time for ecs.

Ok so let me make this more clear. Im currently going to volunteer for Eric Swallwell’s campaign, I have an internship at Minority Buisness Development agency which is a branch of the Department of Commerce, and lastly have a job at a IT service company. All these aren’t possible if I take AP Calculus AB, because i am supposed to start these next week. So should I take ap calculus or what.

lols, i meant 0.03, 4.33 to 4.36.

Your GPA is fine, just keep on working hard during your Senior year and you’ll be golden. UCLA’s GPA average is around ~3.9 I believe, so I doubt you’ll get rejected. It’s good that you want to get ahead in math, but rushing a subject is a big no, no in my books. If you’re so eager to get this class done, get it done. There’s no point stopping in the middle of something, and if doing this affects your EC’s so be it, that’s the consequence.
