In highschool, I received a terrible GPA. I got a GPA of nearly exactly 3.0

However, I got 800 m, 740 CR, and 660 W on the sat. I also got two 800's on math 2 and physics.

I took about 10 ap tests, with 6 5's and 4 4's.

I have some pretty odd EC. I own a national weightlifting record(sophmore year) and was football mvp freshman year. I took several math classes online from the stanford EPGY program, and I passed calculus BC in the 8th grade.

I applied to UCLA, UCSD, Berkeley, UoC, Yale, and UC Irvine.

It seems that none of the online "chance of this college" are consistent with each other when it comes to me, not surprising since im a somewhat odd case.

What do you guys think my chances are of entering these colleges?

The low GPA - high SAT combo reveals a very undesirable trait: laziness. Obviously, you are capable of a GPA far higher than you currently have (Calculus BC in 8th grade!? It’s impressive to have it in 12th grade!) so it begs the question: Why is your GPA so low? Were there any extenuating circumstances? Did you just not do any of your classwork (significant indication that one isn’t ready for college)?

It’s really hard to chance you because your GPA just casts a miserable shade over your otherwise stellar record. At the very least, I can say that Irvine is probably a sure thing.

I got in a pretty bad depression in the end of freshman year. Got a screwed up sleep cycle, and had a few family issues. This really seemed to worsen the symptoms of my ADHD too.

Well, i just finished a few online classes to replace some grades, and it will raise the gpa to a 3.3 or 3.4 unweighted. Though, I already sent in my application to the schools, and I am unsure if this will affect their decision much.

I did have an idea, that may influence a colleges decision to let me in. I would study a course material from a college i am applying to, take an official exam if it is offered online on its website with no solutions, solve them, then email the professor of the course if I could start in his higher level course if accepted(with the document attached), or something similar to that. Do that with two or three classes(or do it with the professors class, and the two more advanced courses that proceed) and then, if I pass enough exams with high marks, perhaps they would recommend me.

Gotta agree with the above comment about the laziness factor. I think you’re a match for Irvine and UCSD since their acceptence rates aren’t super-selective. Think UCLA might be a high-match or possible low reach. You’re probably going to have to write a compelling essay on you’re depression if you really want them to forgive you for your grades. Plus, even with replacing classes, 3.3 or 3.4 unweighted is still kind of low. You’re EC’s are pretty unique, though, and finishing Calculus BC in 8th grade is outstanding…

Yale is a reach for everyone and with your low GPA it will be a high reach even with great EC’s.
