the way my school works, i only had to take PE 1 semester because i needed it to alternate days with drivers ed. the first term, i was in normal PE and because i had drivers ed on alternate days, i couldn’t take some fitness tests and couldn’t make them up, resulting in a B that term. because PE isn’t factored into GPA or class rank, it typically works like that for drivers ed kids (as in they’ll get a high B) and no one really cares. the second term, i switched into a PE class specifically for atheletes and got a 100. im wondering how this will look on my college app. will the B significantly hurt me? (note: i have a 4.0 uw GPA otherwise) should i make a note of it on my college app? any opinion at all is helpful and thanks in advance!
When evaluating your transcript, selective college admissions concentrates on five (5) core courses: English, Math, Social Studies (History), Science, and Foreign Language. Admissions completely ignores PE (gym), Music, Drama, Home Economics, Shop, Health etc as those courses tend to be easier and BOOST a student’s GPA. Therefore, I think your B in PE will be completely ignored. Admissions understands not every kid is an athlete or enjoys PE – so, IMHO, no worries.
thanks so much for the input!
