GPA Recalc

Hey guys, I was really wondering if colleges recalculate your GPA based on your transcript, or take your GPA as-is. My school uses a weighted GPA system, and Naviance is showing my GPA as one that would be readily accepted to Harvard and other top schools. I don't want to get a sense of security, since I know that this year, my Sophomore year, was a total slump compared to my Freshman year.

On another note, do colleges look at grades individually or as a cumulative average?

I realize that these questions are probably elementary to some of you guys out there, but I'm new to the admissions process.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately there is no solid answer - Some schools will take what the HS calculates - others will want to compute an ‘unweighted’ one. In general the more open the admissions, the more likely they will just accept the weighted one. The more restrictive the admission is, the more likely they will want both.

Very few look at individual grades unless you are specifically referring to them in an appeal or essay to note some specific thing related to a grade.
