I'm a freshman at penn state and I really messed up my first fall semester. I ended up with a 2.3 gpa. I'm going to do a LOT better from now on though since my study habits are improving (they were non existant at first)

I also plan on rushing spring for a fraternity...but I'm starting to fear that my fall GPA is too low to be able to join. Does my gpa mean that I cannot join a fraternity in the spring?

Thanks,

EDIT: I calculated this gpa using a calculator. Penn State did not actually release this gpa to me. That being said, are freshmen exempt from the gpa requirement? Because I still do not have an official gpa?

I am going to have to agree with luvthej on this one.
Your GPA is very low. You say you are GOING to study, but instead of doing fraternities and clubs, why dont you go hit the library or something. This is my own personal opinion, no harsh judgements but reality.

BUT to answer your question. You need to check with the fraternity what the GPA requirement is. Some frats require 3.0, 2.7. And yes, your GPA will be used when checking to see if you qualify to join that frat or not. Your official GPA will be coming out soon as soon as your professors finish grading the final exam and final course grades. Your GPA is coming onto your record…dont worry it will be there.
