I'm applying to about 17+ internships for the coming summer because I have a gpa of 2.93 or 2.97 depending on what gpa calculator I use. I am trying to find internships that do not state cut-off at 3.0+. My gpa is low due to my Chemistry grades ( all Cs). I am a neuroscience major (most demanding major at my small university) and have done countless exercises with lab work such as dissecting, western blotting, protein electrophoresis, etc. I have experience with both wet and dry research labs and also good recommendation letters. I have had a research internship almost every summer except for last summer (worked as a nurse).
I am studying abroad for a year and also doing research next semester. I am taking mostly science classes (upper level science) and I am showing a upward trend (got really good grades). The problem is that only grades not a transcript will be available so I will not be able to calculate that into my gpa since there is no proof with transcript (they ask for a transcript). So If they check my current transcript it will show the lower gpa instead of the higher one that I now have since the study abroad grades have not made it to my home university.
I also have extracurriculars: equestrian, fencing, orchestra, scuba diving enthusiast
So my questions are: think I have a chance with low gpa but real enthusiasm in medical research (especially the one in the specific internship) along with good background, extra-curricular activities and good recs? And should I use the 2.97 gpa or 2.93 gpa? I am also showing an upward trend in grades...
Also should I say that I have gotten good grades from study abroad university and have been accepted in a research position at the university even though I cannot really confirm the good grades with a transcript?
