Hi,

I'm a freshmen bioengineering (with an emphasis on biomaterials or biomechanics) major atm and want to apply to a top engineering grad school down the road. I'm wanting to take chem 3a/l, chem 3b, and bio 1a/l over the summer at a local community college to allow me a more manageable course load during the school year. Will this look bad on my grad school apps, since community college courses are supposedly easier than berk summer session courses?

Thanks

Classes have virtually no impact on grad school admissions. Whatever maximizes your research opportunities maximizes your chances for grad school. If you could be doing research instead of classes, you should try to do research. If doing classes now frees up time for research later, that also is a viable option

Why don’t you go talk to your faculty advisor about this sort of thing? Or Cindy? I heard from an upperclassman that the only classes we get credit for at community colleges are math classes, but I’m not sure. I’m bioE too btw.

It probably won’t matter for grad school, but as mentioned above, you need to make sure it will transfer, and you need to make sure you’re getting the foundation you need for more advanced coursework.
