I know there are tons of questions about which schools do not require the GRE and it basically always comes down to international colleges and Northwestern. However there is little discussion on colleges that only require specific sections. I got a 570 and a 4 on the verbal and writing section which is about average, I'm curious which history programs just require those two sections? I recently discovered Rice University only requires those sections and I was very interested to learn about more programs like that.

As far as I am aware, you cannot withhold individual subscores. What do you mean when you say that a university requires verbal and writing scores but not math scores? I checked the admissions requirements of the history department at Rice, and I couldn’t find anything about math scores not being required.

A GRE score report contains the whole test, and you can’t not report your quant score.

A program may not CARE about the quantitative score, but they will see it if they require the GRE.

Most history programs probably care much, much more about the verbal score and your portfolio of writing sample, LORs, and SOP.

I don’t mean to be rude, but if you cannot master high-school level mathematics, you might want to reconsider your graduate school ambitions. Graduate school admissions boards look for students who are capable of learning and adapting to changing needs. By avoiding mathematics, you are essentially informing the admissions committee that you lack this ability.
