People often look to avoid challenges. by avoiding challenges people stay in their "comfort zone", and therefore avoid negative experiences, however by avoiding challenges, and negative experiences they prevent themselves to develop in order to become a better person, as well as to see what they are made of. I learned that lesson both in my military service in the Israeli army, and on my travels across Thailand.

People usually avoid confrentetetions that might lead to other people aggressive responds, such as shouting. by doing so, they make themselves more vunrable when they do get into conflicts. Some might say that to the best way is to avoid conflicts, however, its not easy to predict when a conflict might occur, so its best to be prepared for one. I remember how I would avoid conflicts as a teenager, so I wont have to deal with aggressive responds. That avoidness from confrefrentetions changed when I had to join the Israeli army at the age of 18. At first I would into conflicts with my friends from my unit, and because I had to live with them I couldnt just avoid them. At the begining I felt bad because I didnt knew how to deal with this new situation, and because of that I became depressed. After several months I understood that I had to take a stand, and start to respond to my comrades. After doing so my unit started to respect me, and I felt better about myself. So by that negative experience I developed as a person and discovered new things about my capabilities.

Another way that people avoid challenges, is by avoiding strangers. That makes them to stay only around people they know. One might say that this is not a problem, and people should sorround themselves with known associates, however no one can know when they will find themselves alone, and have to rely on strangers. I used to have a hard time to socialize withe strangers, and I would just avoid them. That changed when I traveled across Thailand alone. At first I felt lonely because I didnt had anyone famillier around me, so I couldnt enjoy my vacation. After a few days I forced myself to talk to strangers. And because of that I made a lot of new friends, which made my vacation enjoyable. With the help of the negative experience of my first few days in Thailand I was able to do something that normally I had avoid, and now I know that I can socialize with strangers, and make new friends as a resoult.

To conclude it is shown from both my military service, and my traveling across Thailand how my negative experiences had help me to develop, and understand better of what I am made of.
