There are quite a few mistakes in this one. Next time I will have to make sure to leave some time to recheck my essay. It might be important to note that initially I was not answering the prompt very well (or so I think) so I had to diverge from my original path and make it more related to the prompt. For this reason, I dont have very good examples.

Thanks for the help.

Prompt: Do ppl learn who they are only when they are forced into action?

Most of us understand that we are not heroes. Only the few that have mustered up the courage and the defiance to make heroic decisions in their lives can be considered heroes; but could we call really be heroes that have not yet been faced with a situation that forces us into heroism? It is only when we are forced into action that we learn who we truly are.
The human potential is unlimited, infinite in practice. The majority of the worlds citizens have not yet taken a dip in their pool of potential. Only during extraordinary times are such people forced to bathe in the pool. For this reason, when one is under pressure, and when one must expose ones potential, one can develop a new side of oneself never before seen. For instance, General George S Patton is one of the most celebrated and decorated generals in not only American history, but also in the world. His ability to rouse up his men and enable his soldiers to give the war effort their all has been recorded in countless history books. Moreover, General Patton is lauded as one of the most brilliant, and cunning, military strategists of all time. Would Patton have achieved this level of military intelligence had World War II not occurred? Where would Patton have had the opportunity to develope and refine his communication skills if he was not knee deep in the trenches of Germany? The answer is he wouldnt have been able to. It is only during extraordinary times that mens potential, and consequently their true selves, is exposed.
In general, men are forced into action in times of tyranny and injustice. After all, it is the human condition to seek comfort and not to put oneself in dangerous situations. As a result, men only find their true selves when they are forced out of their comfort zones. The Founding Fathers of the United States were all ordinary men until the harsh taxes levied by the Britain forced the men to speak out and take action. During this process, these men developed into this countrys most influential and inspiring men. Being forced into action is a necessity toward becoming into ones true self and thereby becoming aware of ones true self.
Throughout history men and women alike have changed history by laying down their own path. But in each case, this was only possible after these people were forced to adapt and overcome their own roadblocks. And in overcoming their obstacles in life, and achieving their goals, these men and women found out something invaluable about themselves.
