Grade my essay.. two examples!!

This topic was pretty hard to write for me (Test 6 on CB book) and I couldn't think of 3 good reasons. So, I got 2 decent ones and wrote them since some people in this forum say that you don't need to have 3 reasons to get a good essay score.

Prompt was something about if the world is changing to be better place. I don't have a book with me right now but that's what the prompt was.

I got 10/12 by CB online report but I'm still curious about other people's opinions. I think it will be DEFINITELY worth to learn how to write 2 examples essay since you never know what to expect on test day. Here it is:

Do people create a better world as time passes? As Goodman said, the future is nothing but great surprises. Although no one can predict the future, I agree that by looking at the past, the future will be clearly better place.

First, there won't be very destructive wars like the First World War and Second World War. The Cold War serves as an inevitable example. During 1990's, the tension between United States and Soviet Union (current Russia) became extremely high. Similar to a wild tiger and lion, United States and Soviet Union didn't appear to compromise or surmise a way to solve their tension. However, they eventually placated themselves mainly because if they continued to go forward, there would be Third World War. For its destruction, Albert Einstein once remarked, "If there is a Third World War to the mankind, the result will be ancient time ------ everything will be destroyed." Just like Soviet Union and United States, the world is trying to become a better place for everyone.

Second, the importance of this issue appeared in literature as well. Clearly, more people became educated as time passed on. During Middle Ages, only selected nobles could have opportunity to know about famous plays and books. Printing was limited since paper hadn't been abundant as present. Moreover, even in early 1900's, the world remained highly critical of the literature. For instance, George Orwell's popular classic 1984 was banned by the government because when it came out, the government thought it was radical. But now, the world is less restricted, and many people know about Shakespeare, Homer, Dickens, and other renowned authors. The world has become a better place without a doubt.

Unquestionably, this world has gone through many changes ----- both bad and good, both liberal and conservative. But one thing remains clear: it will get better as it did.

It doesn't really make sense to say that there won't be any more destructive wars, when there's one going on right now... I don't think it's valid logic to say that having two destructive wars, then a Cold War means that war is over.

I think your second example is pretty good, though. And looking at both the essays you posted recently, I think you might want to stick with the two paragraphs... it's a lot easier to make two detailed but concise arguments than to attempt three.

I know there is an another war going on but I meant "destructive" as world wars where entire world is involved. Also, I rather not go to issue of current war with Iraq and etc because this is controversial topic and I don't think it's good idea to talk about controversial topic unless I devote my entire essay to it.

Or you could do 3 examples and get an 11 or 12 every time, its not what you say but how you say it. Just write quickly, by that I mean print if you print faster.
