I used a College Board prompt to practice, and timed myself. Please give your honest opinion, and if you have any tips, I'd love to hear them.

Prompt:
"There is, of course, no legitimate branch of science that enables us to predict the future accurately. Yet the degree of change in the world is so overwhelming and so promising that the future, I believe, is far brighter than anyone has contemplated since the end of the Second World War."

Assignment:
Is the world changing for the better? Plan and write an essay in which...

Essay:
To deny that the world has changed would be impossible. In the last hundred years, multiple wars have been fought, astounding scientific discoveries have been made, and the human race has evolved in more than one way. Many people though, have argued that these changes have made things worse. I believe though, that the world is changing for the better. When it comes to technology and medicine, I believe that there has been great progress.

In the past hundred years, many technological advancements have taken place. In the early 1900's, communication was extremely harder than it is now. Even with the telephones and radios that they had, it wasn't easy to get information from one place to another, especially if those places were in two different countries. Transportation was also an problem, because despite the fact that the airplane and the car had both become commonplace modes of transportation, there were many safety issues that made them much more dangerous to use. Now, communication and transportation are both fields that are constantly growing and advancing, not only individually, but together. In the past few decades, with the laptop being invented, and the cell phone becoming a more and more convenient device, communicating is becoming easier than it's ever been before. The internet now enables us to share information in mere seconds, which has made education much more effective. And cars like the Tesla are not only safer than the cars before them, but also more environmentally friendly. Certain car companies have also been incorporating mobile technology into cars, a first in both industries.

Medicine has also improved greatly over the years. We've been able to stop many potentially fatal diseases, such as swine flu and polio. And even though we don't have a cure for cancer or HIV yet, we've learned how to create medicine that reduces the symptoms, and helps people living with these diseases to live much easier lives than before. The practice of healthcare has also become better, especially since technology has been incorporated into hospitals around the world. Previously, some people would't be able to be treated because of their location. But now that technology has improved, doctors are not only able to communicate with patients on the other side of the world, but in some cases, also treat them.

Despite many things like global warming, political problems, and the wars that have happened in the last century, I still believe that the world has gotten better. And that if we can continue to improve our living like we already have, the world will only get better with time.
