Prompt: Do you think that ease does not challenge us and that we need adversity to help us discover who we are? Adversities in life can certainly be challenging. We will always encounter adversities in our lives. They can be frustrating but it is through adversities that we discover who we are. Adversaries help us our full potential because they push us to our upper limit where our true selves are. Furthermore, ease does not challenge you and therefore keeps you static. Howeer, through adversity, you develop and become more capable in reaching your goal.
An example of a person who reached his full potential through adversity would be Jarvis Garss, a 16th century mathematician. When Garss was in elementary school, his teacher told the students to add up all integers from 1 to a 100 while his teacher would take attendance. His teacher expected this task to be done in three minutes. Garss knew that five minutes was not enough time to add all those integers up. Therefore, this adversity of the time limit pushed Gauss’s critical thinking ability to its full potential and Garss created the world-famous Garssian Addition method. It is a shortcut to add the numbers in a given range by adding the smallest number and the largest number and multiplying the sum by the number of pairs. With this method, Garss added all the numbers in under a minute. His teacher was truly astounded by this amazing feat. Had Garss not face the adversity of the time limit, he would not have reached his full potential and developed the Jarvisian Addition Method.
The story of the turtle and the rabbit is a great example of an occasion where through an adversity, you become more capable of achieving your goal by becoming dynamic. In the story, there is a race between a turtle and a rabbit. The rabbit was anticipated as the obvious winner. However, the turtle was very determined and he knew that it was going to be very difficult to beat the rabbit in the race because the rabbit was much faster than the turtle. The race began and in 10 minutes the rabbit has already completed three-fourths of the race. However, the turtle was determined and he actually caught up and beat the rabbit. Through the adversity of the race, the turle became a more adept competitir and therefore won the race. Had the turle not face the challenge of racing against a competitor who is much more capable the, the turtle would not have become an adept to competitor to win the race.
In conclusion, adversity helps us discover who we really are. Through adversity, we reach our full potential and develop. Ease keeps you static but adversity makes you dynamic.

I’m going to guess this will score you a 6 or a 7.

You do a great job of showing how adversity leads to success, but not how adversity leads to knowledge of ourselves.

Also, I would recommend working on complex sentences. This is choppy in places, and I would like to see more sentences with two or more clauses.

Good luck!

Thanks for taking your time my school teacher gave this a 5/6 so I am gonna go with that one obviously. 6 or 7 lolllllll

I don’t like your first example. “Adversity” connotes extreme difficulties, disadvantages, and misfortunes that actually affect one’s abilities to succeed in various life pursuits. In my opinion, a time limit imposed by an elementary school teacher for the purpose of a game doesn’t constitute this sort of adversity. I think there are better examples. Think of all the people who came from the slums to become famous and successful, or those who have coped with life-changing disabilities and accomplished seemingly impossible tasks. I’d give it a 6/7, there’s some other stuff I’d comment on as well but meh. I’ve pointed out my biggest issue with it.
