Grade Requirements for Matriculation

Hi, I am accepted at Choate as a Head’s Scholar and I’m curious about what grades would be needed for matriculation. This past quarter was challenging due to a relative passing. Now, I have quite a few 3.5’s and one 3.0. Of course, I will definitely aim for all 4.0’s but in the case I have more than one 3.5, or keep the 3.0, would my matriculation be on the line?

For reference, my GPA last semester was a 4.0 and I had one 3.5 in an advanced class (which rounds up to a 4.0 for the GPA). I’m sure this conversation applies to a lot of other recently admitted students. Thanks so much!

You’re fine. I doubt one (or even a few) B is going to be a deal breaker…I bet most schools would even allow a C as long as everything else is in line… Especially in your case, where you had an extenuating circumstance. Ask your guidance counselor, and perhaps they (or you) can write a note when final grades get sent in.

@saigonollie: Your transcript is fine, no need for a note. A D or F might need some explaining, but Bs never. Only on CC are Bs questionable. A B is not a dip.

SwimKid had a C on his transcript his last term before headed to Exeter. It wasn’t an issue!
