Prompt: What is your view on the idea that each new success leads to new and more difficult problems?

Essay:

Every campaign in life is like a tower of cards. Each time one level is built, another level follows, each more daunting and perilous than the last, until the last card is finally in place. In everything one attempts, success is followed by a succession of new and even more difficult problem. Examples in history and literature have clearly proved this to be true.

In Khaled Husseinni's "The Kite Runner", the protagonist Amire's quest to bring his friend's son, Rhostam, from war-infested Afghanistan to Pakistan demonstrates that each road's end is only met with an even more tortuous and dangerous path. To get info about Rhostam's location, Amir traveled around the entire Kabul district in search of a Taliban officer. When he finally got a hold of him, he recognized him to be an old accuaintance, Assef, who was bent on hurting Amir. After getting beaten to a pulp, Amir is saved by Rhostam and flees of Pakistan. While he successfully retrived Rhostam, he had yet to tap into Rhostam's heart. To Rhostam, Amir was only a stranger, and would remain so for years to come. Amir's example, therefore, shows that even though his previous success was laudable, he had not yet finished his mission.

Prior to 1872, the ideas of Karl Marx spread to France and struck proletariats as a wonderful revelation. Roletariats, tired of their outmoded government, banded together in an attempt to reform it. The French government, however, corrupted it was, was still powerful enough to suppress the society, but it eventually took Paris and came to power. This marked communism's first success. After only 72 days, due to a lack of strong leadership, the society feel and communism would be forgotten for another 45 years. In 1917, Russia left the battlefield to World War I to overthrow its Czar. A series of changes followed to lead up to the October Revolution and the Soviet Union was forming in 1921, signifying communism's second success. The rise of PRC in the late 20th century was communism's third success; but in 1991 the Soviet Union disbanded since total socialism could not support its waning economy. Even though PRC still stands proudly today, it's evident that capitalism is riddled all over its large cities. It's become accepted that communism has failed to show the world it alone can sustain a booming economy. From this point, it is clear that communism has faced more difficult challenges following each success, from a simple uprising to prolific world powers, from external pressures such as the French army to internal conflict such as capitalism spreading in a communist country.

Through a careful and comprehensive analysis of Amir's predicament and communism's failures, achievements and future challenges, it's evident that each success indeed gives birth to new and more difficult problems. Only a chain of successes from one's own diligence and improvement can lead to life's greatest accomplishments.

Please rate this on a 6-point scale, because I hope most of you are just one person. Because of distractions, I DID go over the 25-minute limit, but I still have time to speed myself up and work on focusing. Anyways, thanks for reading this lackluster essay and finding the time to rate it.
