Grades at cc

I got a "b" at local cc the summer before sophomore year. Do I have to report it? It will bring my GPA down.

Yes, you have to report all coursework.

Are you an incoming freshman? If so, it doesn’t matter. CC grades aren’t calculated into your GPA.

I am a rising HS sophomore. I believe UC will give me extra point for cc class, but my HS will not. So my HS ranking and GPA will drop.

i have a quick question regarding to CC credit and grade at Berkeley;
I see Cal transcript does not show any grade or Pass/no pass information about the transferred CC classes;
Does it safe to say nobody of Cal committee will know if take P/NP or grade for those transferred credits since it wont count for your GPA anyway, but adding more CC classes gives you more total credits for seniority and look better

For UC (and CSU) purposes, the high school’s GPA calculation does not matter, nor does the high school’s notion of class rank.

For UC admissions, HS GPA is recalculated unweighted, weighted with up to 8 semesters of honors/AP/college courses, and weighted without limit, to be visible to the admissions readers (weighted with up to 8 semesters of honors/AP/college courses is the best known HS GPA used by UC admissions). Class rank is not used, although “making the most of your high school” and such can correlate to class rank. ELC compares your UC-recalculated HS GPA (weighted with up to 8 semesters of honors/AP/college courses) with the top 9% threshold UC-recalculated HS GPA from recent past classes at your high school.

UCBalumnus:
how about current Cal student beyond freshman:

Does it safe to say nobody of Cal committee will know if it was taken P/NP or grade for those transferred credits since it wont count for your GPA anyway, but adding more CC classes gives you more total credits for seniority and look better. nay classes > “C” or “Pass” under Assist list will be credited but letter grade was not recorded in Cal system.

If the CC courses may be applicable to your intended major, then the major department may want to see your (non-P/NP) grades from CC courses. Example for the economics major (although it is for transfer students, they want to see all transferred courses applicable to the major taken for a letter grade):

Incoming Transfer Students | Department of Economics;

The same may apply to reading and composition courses:

[Office of Undergraduate Advising: Reading & Composition](Reading & Composition | L&S Advising)

Question:
How does cal count the credit?
if you are retaking the same accounting classes at CC (this summer, P/NP) and Berkeley (coming Fall)…
Do you recommend to go ahead take the credit this fall or just ignore the CC class (not even send out transcript to Cal)
