Since my freshman year, I have been consistently getting A's and B's in all of my classes. I don't have a single C on my transcript, which is something that I've always been very proud of, but I usually end up with a C in one or two classes throughout the year, usually in the first two marking cycles.

This year, I have been sick a lot, and thus, my grades have suffered, and I ended up with a D+ in Calculus first cycle, and a C- in AP English 12. This cycle, I'm going to be getting a B- in Calculus, a B in AP English, a B in AP Euro, a B in Practical Law (honors), an A+ in Political Institute, an A in gym, and a D in Adv. Studies in Biology and Chemistry. These are tentative grades, as it is only midcycle and I have five more weeks to bring these grades up (or down..).

I never wanted to take Bio-Chem. But my counselor talked me into it. I got a B first semester. I have a 3.44 GPA (unweighted), I take all Honors and AP classes and I've got a lot of ECs, and my essays were pretty good.. I'm just nervous that my grades are going to keep me out of the colleges I'd like to go to. My counselor told me to write a letter explaining that I've been sick (among other things..), and she is going to send it (with her own letter of explanation apparently) with my midyear transcripts..

My question is though...when these are released on my midyear report, how will colleges view them? Will they ruin my chances of getting into college?
