skieurope not to be rude but where did you go to high school so I can get a scope of things
It’s a very small possibility; most schools don’t calculate other school’s grades in their GPA. In your example however, they are not HS classes, so they won’t show up anyway.
so even if that happened, it would not make a huge difference right?
I can say with 99.999999% certainty that if you got rejected from MIT, it is not because you got 2 B’s in 8th grade.
thank you so much are you in college or still in high school
To find that answer you need to contact your high school to find out what grades will appear on your high school transcript. Both my daughters took algebra and earth science in eighth grade. They also took a 1/2 credit high school level art class. All three of those classes appeared on their high school transcript and these grades were included in their final gpa.
Now it is very possible that some colleges might have taken out the eighth grade classes and re-calculated their gpa’s. It is common for colleges to sometimes take out weighted grades, or to only use academic subject grades and not electives/ gym when they re-calculate gpa. Some colleges re-calculate/ come don’t. I wouldn’t sweat it now.
You’ve gotta chill out. What if you get rejected from MIT? Then you’ll have wasted literally years on a single school that probably doesn’t even matter that much in the long run.
Your high school career is going to suck if you’re worrying about every little grade the whole time. Just enjoy your time in school, try to get the best grades you can, but if you can’t get all A’s don’t worry about it.
@CoolKidforMIT I just graduated HS.
so it is only for courses taken in middle school that count as high school credit
some others said the course is in the transcript but is not counted as a grade
The thing is that this is going to vary by school so no one can really give you a blanket statement. However, as many have said before, it is unlikely that it will affect or be included in your GPA, and it is not something you should waste time worrying about at this point.
I realise that but the courses i had trouble in was adv english and 8th grade math not algebra so that wouldn’t be considered as a high school course, right?
Like I said… no one can give you a better answer other than, ‘no, likely not’. You should contact you hs’ administration office if you really want to know, but I suspect they’d give you the same answer. You’re worrying over nothing. Applying to colleges is a long way away right now.
as in getting no high school credits
I was accelerated a year in math, so I took a high school math course in 8th grade. That does go on my transcript, and so would any other high school level classes. But relax, nothing else from middle school should go on your transcript.
You’re absolutely screwed with 2 Bs in middle school. I guess you’ll have to settle for a local community college. Sorry. Im only kidding. Most colleges don’t even look at freshman year much less 8th grade
