I recieved 2 b’s in english and one in math(not algebra). Will this hurt my MIT chances?
Colleges do NOT look at 8th grade grades. It may hurt your chances for getting into advanced math in 9th grade, which IS high school, and that MIT will see, so watch the math, but relax, no worries till 9th grade.
what about 6th grade? Would anyone look back that far?
Colleges wouldn’t look at your 8th grade averages unless you were taking Algebra and Earth Science (as in my school) but you aren’t, so you are good.
No I was wondering because many people say that 8th grade algebra and language is looked at by colleges. would that apply to english
How would colleges look at algebra, like would it be placed in your high school transcript?
My son took advanced math(high school level) and spanish in 8th grade. When you go onto high school, they transfer only the credits for the advanced classes, but the grades are not shown.
@CoolkidforMIT Youe english won’t apply unless it is advanced. Basically, your district decides what they want on transcripts.
I have advanced english so it will penalize me
???
Sorry, I had advanced english in 8th grade so it will hurt me?
I thought colleges only cared if it was only for high school credit like algebra or language. I know for a fact that my advanced english doesnt count as high school credit so…
I hope for my sanity, this is somehow a joke. No, colleges won’t care what you got in middle school. I took Pre-calc in 8th grade and the GC said they won’t care.
On a side note, what’s so great about MIT?
idk Its just a dream of mine and i know i am very paranoid about my life
I have been scrounging the internet for facts about middle school for the last 2 hrs
Why is it dream? Just because it’s a big name?
i guess because I have been there?
are you a high school student or a college one
Colleges will not look at your 8th grade grades regardless of subject and regardless of how advanced the subject is. Period. End of story.
Different schools have different policies about how or if HS classes taken in MS appear on your HS transcript. Some, like my HS and @ZBD5421 's son’s list the courses, but no grades. Some include the grades. Some calculate into the GPA, some don’t. Colleges expect that many students perform differently at 12/13 than at 17/18.
So there is still a risk of wheter the GPA could be calculated right?
