I was just really wondering, what would happen if a student was accepted to a school, but got a C on their second semester report card. I heard that students get rejected even after getting accepted. Is it true? What would happen to the student?

sorry, i meant you won’t subsequently get rejected unless there are conditions attached to your acceptance (say, you have to maintain certain grades).

All schools can take away your acceptance after you’ve been admitted. That being said, it should only be taken away if, for example, your grades plummet (like all D’s and F’s), you get expelled or you quit all your extracurriculars or something. I doubt a C would hurt anybody and I doubt they would take away your acceptance over a C. They just don’t want you to stop trying between the time of your acceptance and the time you start that new school. Now if you received a scholarship or something that stated between now and whenever that you have to have all A’s and B’s, then that’s another story. However, this doesn’t sound like the case here.

I don’t think one downed grade is going to kill you. I’d be wary, because your acceptance is based on these grades, but I wouldn’t stress. Schools just want to make sure you weren’t showing off and that you won’t get lazy.

Well you should think about what that C means for your GPA. Is it all A’s and one C? I’ve had that before and I was accepted into Exeter. I think that one bad grade won’t kill you, though I would work extra hard to try and fix that C. I know that it can be stressful and one had grade after another just sort of happens and suddenly you have a low B, or in your case, a C, but you should just work as hard as possible to raise that grade.

I doubt that it’s that big of a deal. Prep schools won’t keep track of the grades of ALL the people they’ve accepted… unless, of course, your school reaches out to the prep schools you were accepted to- but I seriously doubt that, unless you received disciplinary action or something.

None of the schools except for Kent sent along a criteria in the admission letter.

If I recall correctly, it was something along the lines of, “With that being said, we expect you to maintain good grades…” I’m probably really misquoting it, but that’s the gist.
