I just ended sophomore year and following finals, my year grades have dropped from what I was expecting. I was expecting a B in honors chem but ended up with an 82.4 B-. I got a B+ in english and precalc honors, and an As/A-s in my other classes.
I had so many anxiety attacks about that B-, and I know it’s going to ruin my chances at my dream schools. My grades are not the best but I have taken the honors track in my school in most classes. My EC’s are decent but I was wondering if you could give me any tips to move on from this, and have peace of mind over the summer that my chances of getting into a competitive school haven’t been shot in the face. I really appreciate it.
My overall GPA is a 3.6 and I got a 1420 on the PSAT if that gives you any insight on what I may get on the SAT. I’m taking an SAT prep course and will be taking it in August. Hoping a good score on that will help balance with my lower than average GPA. @andromech18 My dream schools are in the 20-30% acceptance rate range… is that too much of a reach?
The University of Wyoming is a good school, Dont know about Coastal Carolina. There are multiple schools n the North Carolina, system, I,this no you have multiple schools to chose among, Broaden your horizons and you will see lots of options.
As long as you can get your junior year grades up and take AP/IB classes for rigor, then your sophomore grades shouldn’t be a big deal to adcoms. Most people know that junior year is the most important year as it’s the final year colleges get to see a full year’s worth of grades, so you need to get that GPA up and do well on your standardized tests (SAT/ACT). Good luck!
