Can you get into West Point if you got the occasional C on your report cards in high school? (I got C's on my math midterm and final (i think) freshman year, and due to unfortunate circumstances, I might end up with a C this nine weeks and a B for this year's final.)

Math is the only class I got less than an A in in high school (minus two weeks of summer health, I was one point from an A). Other than this freshman year I got B's for my 4 nine weeks and this year, it's: B+, B+, A (midterm), A (3rd nine weeks).

(I plan to do better next year (I'm taking Honors Pre-Calc), and get B+ and up.)

So my question is pretty much can you get into West Point if you aren't so good at math??

Thanks

Yes it is possible to get into West Point if you aren’t a math whiz. My son is a perfect example. He got a C in pre-calc during first semester of senior year. His math scores on the ACT and SAT were his weakest areas (low to mid 500’s on SAT and mid 20’s on ACT).

My advice is:
- show improvement in your math grades…no more C’s. Get a tutor if necessary.
- study hard for the math portion of the SAT and ACT - you want to get the best score possible. Take both tests as many times as you can, your scores usually improve each time.

If you do get into West Point, the good news is that you will have lots of help getting through your math classes. My son made it through with all B’s in math thanks to the help of the professors and other cadets who tutored him.

Good luck!
