How's grade inflation or deflation at Dartmouth and other Ivys including Wharton, Brown, and WUSTL, JHU, Northwestern?

Seems like lots of grade inflation to me. My DS has managed a 4.0 these last 2 terms while having a very active social life. At least in my day, that would have been impossible at Wharton!

Thank you. How bad is the grade inflation/deflation at Wharton? and how many and what courses does your DS have?

I think that there isn’t grade inflation here, but there’s also not any deflation. I think we’re pretty much on par with all the other schools.

The average graduating GPA is 3.25 (I believe).

I know people who are very social who seem to be doing fine, but that is usually because they are only in easier intro classes. Once you start trying your hand at higher level courses, it wont be as easy to do as well as many freshman are now.

Also, there are a lot of students who will retake classes that they have taken before so that their course-load will be easier for the time being.

DS took few intro classes. He’s been in 2 advanced math classes, a Spanish seminar for fluent speakers, 2 engineering classes, a bio class and some government seminars.

Your son is so awesome.

It depends on the student. Stuff here is definitely manageable. If you had a good high school background then the intro classes will be straightforward. There is some inflation in the chinese/arabic departments and humanties departments. At some point the kid is going to have to work though because there are some tough classes, which are made tougher because everyone is so smart here.
