Graduating UC without a foreign language

I plan on transferring to a UC after 2 years of community college. I’m not going to do the IGETC. From what i’ve read, the general ed is different from each University. Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, and some San Diego schools, don’t have any language requirement for engineering majors. I looked at the general ed requirements for Santa Barbaras school of engineering, and it wasn’t mandatory. The thing that i’m confused about is, if i were to go to Santa Barbara, would i be taking my general ed at the College of Engineering? And am i right about some schools not having foreign language requirements for engineering majors? I’m confused because, universities have different colleges. And i thought general ed was the same for everyone.

Every school has different general education requirements. Some schools do not require a foreign language for their GE requirements. I graduated from UCSD without taking a foreign language.

I don’t see a foreign language requirement at UCSB in the college of engineering but I only looked for a second. You might want to ask an advisor if you’re not sure.
